Crystal Palace Subway, Lesser Known Architecture by Theo Simpson (Mass Observation)

Crystal Palace Subway, Lesser Known Architecture by Theo Simpson (Mass Observation)

£30.00

Crystal Palace Subway Single Colour Offset Print, a limited edition of 100 Dimensions: 70 x 48cm

Lesser Known Architecture formed an exhibition celebrating extraordinary London architecture. Nominated by leading architecture critics, these ten buildings, structures and subways contribute to the mix and diversity of the city but are all too often overlooked and forgotten.

Curated by Elias Redstone, Lesser Known Architecture presents an alternative architectural map of the city. Each site has been photographed by Theo Simpson and was displayed as a series of single colour offset prints in the Design Museum Café and Tank installation designed by Ben Mclaughlin.

While sights such as London’s Brutalist Barbican, the cinematic red brick structure of Battersea Power station or Sir Norman Foster’s shiny, phallic Gherkin are well recognised architectural icons, this print series formed a new show at the Design Museum - to uncover the capital’s less-celebrated archi-treasures.

"The single-colour offset prints images are striking in their sense of detachment, showing the architecture with little sentiment yet brilliantly showcasing sites most of us have never noticed."
