The hydraulic accumulator tower was built in 1852 to provide hydraulic power for the machinery of the Grimsby Docks. The tower, by James William Wild, holds a water tank of 30,000 imperial gallons at a height of 61m, and was inspired by the Torre del Mangia in the Piazza del Campo, Siena, Italy.
